![]() Update to date 25th January 2012 In the past two weeks members will have seen the first practical effect of the contracts being signed last month. As main contractors, Freemans have appointed E.R.Hemmings (Building) Ltd. as sub-contractors. Andrew Wilson Partnership has been appointed by Freemans as site Project Manager with Malcolm Duffield, senior Manager of Freemans. Chris Redman, Fred Salter and I will be working closely with them and Hemmings’ own Project Manager throughout the build. Weekly site meetings will be held so that we can inform on progress as necessary. You will find a full programme on the board listing dates and times for the clubhouse development. The completion hand-over is targeted for end October/early November 2012 but, as always, it does depend on the weather. We have always said that we will have to accept some inconvenience. Building sites can be dangerous places and whatever your feelings about Health and Safety it is here to stay and takes priority over everything and must have your full co-operation. Please abide by all signs displayed - they have been put there for your safety and that of all those on site. Any disregard could have serious consequences, both for the individual and the project. All fenced areas have been installed by the developers and must not be entered by members. We want everyone to enjoy the excitement of the build as it’s your club house so please be safe. Should you require any information direct it in the first instance to the office, whence it will be passed on to us. Both the new temporary car parks are now ready for use and we would ask you to follow the layout and signs so that the maximum number of cars can be accommodated. From the large car park please follow the new footpath to the course. To be able to construct the new entry/exit road through to the roundabout, part of the current access off the A350 needs to be fenced off and will be white lined, but extra care is necessary when entering as lorries will also be using this as both entrance and exit. The House and Bar committee lead by Tuppence Hale is in full swing designing the new kitchen which will provide food from a bacon bap to our club functions catering for up to 140; decor and fittings are also occupying their time. The Greens committee lead by Peter Schrader is finalising plans and timings for Phase 2 of the course and once completed will be displayed in the club house. Most of the hard work has been done and could not have been achieved if all of those who have taken part to date had not given their time and effort so freely. Now the exciting and fun part starts so please join with us as this will be the biggest venture and achievement Chippenham Golf Club will ever enter into.
Graham Cowdrey Chairman of the Executive and Development committee.
![]() DEVELOPMENT NEWS UPDATE - JULY 2011
DEVELOPMENT PROJECT UPDATE: 29 July 2011
As you know, conditional Planning Permission was granted last November and after considerable work by various bodies to resolve those conditions, formal Planning Approval was granted on 1st June 2011 with the statutory judicial three month period.
The Developers are finalising the internal layouts, construction details and specifications for the Care Home with the end user, MHA, and with us, following which architects and engineers will take the planning drawings forward to detailed construction plans. All these processes take time and the anticipated start date on site is 14th November 2011.
As far as the Club is concerned the first stage will be to move Bill’s Shop to a temporary site nearer the clubhouse, which will be in September, and then in November create temporary car parks beyond the putting green and in the practice ground. Detailed plans of temporary car parks, footpaths and traffic movements will be provided in due course and will ensure that the exit via the garage site remains in operation.
The Club House is currently programmed to start in January and be completed in early October 2012. The work on the new golf holes will be completed next summer, as we have missed this year’s seeding season.
The first phase of Extra Care Apartments will be released for sale in spring 2012 and will be available for reservation. We will circulate contact details for sales information in our future newsletters.
Finally we must all recognize that this is a major development project and there will be some disruption because the safety and safe passage of club members must be ensured at all times.
The priority for both the Developer and the Project Team is that the Club shall remain operational throughout, and the Developers will do their utmost to minimise any disruption.
